Global Discovery: Water
GLOBAL DISCOVERY: WATER
Sharing hands-on guided-play activities by video and live chat with global partner students to introduce different cultures and understanding and the concept of global competency into the young classroom.
Students read, listen, and sing, stories, poems and songs from around the world.
Using their imagination to spark curiosity, students explore concepts as they follow the Water Cycle, plant seeds to grow new life, model and test a water container, and build a tree for a nest to perch in!
Introduce the concept of the outside world to your Pre-K students in this eight week course, as you follow the path of a drop of water around the globe! Your students will discover continents, countries, and cultures beyond their own as they learn why water is important through guided-play activities. Listening to lively, colorful short stories, students learn about the Water Cycle and connect how plants and animals depend on water to live. Through hands-on, project-based learning they design solutions to problems, such as how to effectively carry water across the African plains. Students are introduced to the concept of different cultures as they consider how different birds live and nest. Then, they build their own version of a ‘nest’ from scavenged materials and test the stability of their engineered ‘tree’ to perch it in. All the while, sharing their ideas and learning with their global partner classroom.
