Energize Your School’s Spanish Program with a Cross-Cultural Exchange + Engineering

Spanish Program with a Cross-Cultural Exchange

To make Spanish truly relevant and exciting for students, U.S. schools can choose to pair up with one of Level Up Village’s Latin American Global Partners.  LUV’s Global StorbyBook Engineers course is an excellent choice for this cross-cultural exchange for students as young as Kindergarten through 2nd grade.

In this course, students engage in a variety of creative engineering projects inspired by fairy tales and fables from all over the world. For example, imagine how Rapunzel could have escaped from her tower without help from the prince if she had access to a room full of marshmallows and uncooked spaghetti? Once they draw their proposed solution, students get to bring it to life it using the materials given. They then share and compare their projects with their individual Global Partners during each class period via video message exchange or Skype.

Schools that would like their students to be exposed to the Spanish language or even collaborate in Spanish should request that they be matched with one of LUV’s Global Partners in Latin America: NicaPhoto in Nicaragua (see video below), CREAR in Costa Rica,Seeds of Hope in Peru, and Bilingual Education for Central America (BECA) and Honduras Child Alliance in Honduras.
